Local community groups are encouraged to apply for Veolia funding as the closing date approaches.
Time is running out to apply to this round of the Veolia Telford & Wrekin Council EnviroGrant fund. The scheme offers grants of up to £1,000 for local projects that benefit the community or environment. Properly constituted not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to apply to the fund, and grants totalling up to £15,000 will be handed out in this round of funding.
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2022 for the popular scheme which is part of the added value brought to the borough through the waste contract between leading resource management company, Veolia, and Telford & Wrekin Council.
The fund is for projects that improve or protect the local environment through practical action or education, or projects that improve the quality of life for the local community by providing or improving facilities and resources.
Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for neighbourhood, commercial services and regeneration, said: “The Envirogrant has proven a fantastic scheme, helping many local organisations to deliver all sorts of valuable community work over the past few years. I would encourage more groups to apply to this latest funding round – it’s easy to do and could help you make a real difference locally.”
Steve Mitchell, Regional Director for Veolia, said: “We are proud to support our local community and with the closing date approaching, we are encouraging local groups to consider applying for funding. It might be planting wildflowers, clearing paths to enable access, or a project that reduces waste. If it benefits the community or the environment, we want to hear from you.”
